The effectiveness of CPR can be judged by ETCO2 values. Consistently high ETCO2 values indicate well executed CPR. An ETCO2 higher than 19 mm Hg at the start of CPR has been associated with successful return of pulse. Furthermore, survivors had higher ETCO2 than non survivors and no patient whose ETCO2 was less than 10 mm Hg during CPR could be successfully resuscitated. These details have been stated in 911 section of this website. Usual trend of ETCO2 during impending arrest, arrest and successful resuscitations is shown below.
